Linguiça Pizza (North Providence, RI), June 28, 2020
A few things for all you novices out there:
First, linguiça is a popular Portuguese smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika. If you've never tried it, you must; it is unlike any other sausage you've had before. If you've never had sausage before, Angus & Agnes pray for your deprived vegetarian soul.
Second, it is a well known fact that pizza tastes best when it is rectangular and not round. Something to do with the flavors that only 90 degree angles can offer.
Third, when you combine linguiça with the four-cornered goodness of the pizza served at Twin's, you are in for one lip-smacking surprise. But be careful, these pizzas are HUGE (the picture shown is the half size). (Twins Pizza, North Providence, RI)

French Crepes (Minneapolis, MN), August 23, 2020
Nestled in an obscure parking lot on Eat Street (aka Nicollet Avenue) in South Minneapolis is the oft-overlooked My Huong Kitchen, a magical little gem that is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Forget the pho and banh mi (both equally deserving of their own A&A blog posts, for sure), and jump right to the french crepes. Though the advertisement as \\\"the world's best crepe\\\" may raise some dubious eyebrows, the taste and presentation most certainly won't. Unable to choose between strawberry, nutella, or banana, we opted instead for all three! (My Huong Kitchen, Minneapolis, MN)

Harvest Board (Minneapolis, MN), June 20, 2018
What is there not to love about this visual and palatable feast? Hanger steak grilled so perfectly even the gauchos are asking Fogo de Howw?! We're talkin' root beer reduction, roasted brussel sprouts (which A&A generally think are overrated ), roasted beets, three local cheeses, quinoa with yogurt, cranberry chutney, wild rice (with popcorn - who knew?), mustard horseradish, and so much more. But if you order this baby (which we recommend), you MUST remember to ask for the pièce de résistance: homemade Mexican hot chocolate. The meal is simply incomplete without it. We love this so much we make it an annual outing. (Muddy Waters, Minneapolis, Minnesota)

Mushroom Carbonara (St. Paul, MN), June 23, 2018
Okay. Seriously. Though for some the $12.59 price tag might be a bit steep, this is an all-time breakfast favorite of ours. It consists of corn puree, a healthy amount of roasted exotic mushrooms (including portabella and crimini), bacon (we hear you can substitute turkey sausage), perfectly poached eggs (which are increasingly hard to come by these days), and a tasty fork-lickable concoction of basil, parsley, garlic, and olive oil. All of this feelgoodness sits atop a firm polenta base. Angus couldn't wait to dig into this one, which explains why he mixed everything up before taking the picture. (Highland Grill, St. Paul)

Lemonade, anyone? (Rhode Island), July 19, 2020
There is absolutely nothing like Del's Lemonade (sold only in Rhode Island). This is nothing short of fresh lemony slushy love in a cup. You can even buy the mix to make at home, which A & A have done, adding blueberries, strawberries, and (dare we say?) vodka. If your summer is lacking that special pick-me-up-and-leave-me-basking-in-the-sun-while-the-world-goes-on-without-me feeling, just pick up your own here. (Anywhere, RI)

Pride Cake (Minneapolis, MN), June 24, 2018
What better way to get your pride on, beautiful peeps, than with this lovely Pride Cake from Angel Food Bakery? A&A recently had the pleasure of attending a wedding where this colorful baby was all the rage. And the couple was both compromising and clever. Instead of choosing a meringue frosting or a buttercream frosting, these tactful gents chose both: buttercream on the outside, meringue on the inside. The perfect balance for the perfect couple. Pepperoni and Roasted Corn Pizza (Minneapolis, MN), August 23, 2020
After waiting several months to try this place, we finally decided to ditch the carb-watching and indulge ourselves. The verdict? You are definitely in for a treat! As we've reported in the past, it is well established that rectangular pizza is far superior to round, and this is something the wise folks at Wrecktangle Pizza are now capitalizing on. Here is their Detroit-style pizza with pepperoni cups and roasted corn -- absolutely mouthwateringly yummy. One feeds two people easily, so grab a date, socially distance yourselves, and enjoy the flavors! (Wrecktangle Pizza, Minneapolis, MN)

Quail Eggs (Castelo de Vide, Portugal), August 2, 2020
Nestled in a 100 square mile section of the Alto Alentejo region of Portugal and just west of the Spanish border is the picturesque and fortified town of Castelo de Vide, home to one of the only two existing pre-expulsion synagogues in the country. There you will find a number of culinary gems, including this lovely \\\"appetizer\\\" of quail eggs with wild mushrooms. This plate was huge and was just a prelude to the rest of the meal. Bom proveito! (Tasquinha Sabor do Campo, Castelo de Vide, Portugal).

Nieren (Minneapolis, MN), August 2, 2020
Each day since it first opened its doors, the Black Forest Inn restaurant has prepared homemade German food with the freshest of ingredients. Favorites include bratwurst, spaetzel, breads, and pastries. But for those of us who are a bit more adventurous in our eating choices, we recommend the lesser-known bombshell Nieren, which are veal kidneys sautéed with a dash of balsamic vinegar and served in a sour cream brown sauce, served with spaetzel and red cabbage. As Angus was born one day before the opening of this restaurant, he makes it a point each year to celebrate their concurrent birthdays by treating himself to this lip-smacking delicacy. Broiled Octopus (Minneapolis, MN), August 23, 2020
It's time to quote the late Heather O'Rourke who famously said, \\\"They're baaaaaack!\\\" Formerly It's Greek to Me, the new It's Greek to Me Taverna e Parea opened its doors this summer after selling off the restaurant in 2016. After being dormant since September 2019, the restaurant has re-opened as a partnership with the original co-owner, Alkis Arambadjis, his nephew (who will keep this gem in the family) and a long-time IGTM employee. Arambadjis came to the United States from Salonika, Greece in 1982, and Minneapolis is all the better for it, as evidenced by this lovely char-broiled octopus with red peppers (Angus asked for no green peppers) and topped off with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and fresh thyme. Καλή όρεξη! (It's Greek to Me Taverna e Parea, Minneapolis, MN)

Stuffed Pineapple (Minneapolis, MN) September 13, 2020
If the pineapple is a universal expression of \\\"welcome\\\" then rush on down to Casa Maria in South Minneapolis for a tropical mouth-watering Bienvenidos! In fact, Welcome is the very first word on their website.
The greeting is exemplified in their Piña rellena, which is a half pineapple heartily stuffed with bacon, shrimp, ribeye steak, onions, spices, Oaxaca cheese, and pineapple chunks, all served with creamy green chile rice. This is a feast not only for the eyes, but also for the belly. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. There are lots of yummy goodies here that you won't find anywhere else!
