Quail Eggs (Castelo de Vide, Portugal), August 2, 2020

Nestled in a 100 square mile section of the Alto Alentejo region of Portugal and just west of the Spanish border is the picturesque and fortified town of Castelo de Vide, home to one of the only two existing pre-expulsion synagogues in the country. There you will find a number of culinary gems, including this lovely "appetizer" of quail eggs with wild mushrooms. This plate was huge and was just a prelude to the rest of the meal.  Bom proveito! (Tasquinha Sabor do Campo, Castelo de Vide, Portugal).
